ND110807-084[2]Welcome to Sole Street House

Sole Street is an old country house full of hidden mysteries and mellow charm, standing at the heart of its own small estate in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, two miles outside Faversham. It is the perfect setting for your civil ceremony or special occasion.

Sole Street was a country gentleman’s residence from the 1500s until 1830, when its owner, Sir Thomas Hilton, added a wing in a grander style. This created the suite of three rooms now dedicated for civil partnerships and  weddings: a light and airy drawing room, where the ceremony takes place; a large dining room; and a spacious ballroom, where receptions are held.

At one time in it’s history, Sole Street House was owned by Peter Greenstreet, an ancestor of Sidney Greenstreet, who is best remembered for his appearances in ‘The Maltese Falcon’ and that timeless romantic classic, ‘Casablanca’.

Today's owners; Rosalind Miles and Robin Cross are pleased to cater for parties of up to 100 in the house, and up to 250 if a marquee is hired. Disabled guests can be accommodated, and the property is surrounded by 10 acres of informal gardens and woodland, where younger members of the party can run and play.

And there is more... Sole Street’s private woodland boasts a unique tree house, built by craftsmen, which has been granted approval for all civil ceremonies in its own right. Adventurous couples, with their witnesses, may now celebrate their civil ceremony halfway between heaven and earth in an ancient woodland glade, while their guests look on from below and the Green Man gives his blessing from a neighbouring tree.

Today and every day, Sole Street welcomes loving couples, as it has welcomed all comers for the last 500 years.
